The South Orange Public Library (SOPL) is home to the community’s civic, cultural and intellectual life. The Building Connections Campaign unveiled plans to expand and fully re-imagine the library as a state-of-the-art center for community that inspires generations of life-long learners and energizes the downtown. SOPL approached us for a campaign design that demonstrates the impact for potential donors and rallies the South Orange community around the campaign.

The Building Connections project aimed to renovate the current library building, rehabilitate the previously decommissioned 19th century library building, and connect the two structures. Because plans were still in progress, our key design challenge was to visually demonstrate the project’s impact without any final renderings or photos.
Bold and motivating, the campaign design makes a statement through moments of impactful messaging and confident use of color. Instead of renderings, the campaign features people-focused photography captured in the existing library. Shot with key demographics in mind, photos are framed by oversized shapes pulled from the brand mark and layered with bold type.
With energy and vibrance, the campaign positions the library as the centerpiece of South Orange Village, an integral part of the growth and daily life of its residents.
